How do you gauge success?

Updated: Aug 11

Many years ago, my husband was attending a festival and there was an ice cream truck on the premises with two guys giving away free ice cream. They asked my husband if he wanted one. He said”Sure, I’ll take a free ice cream!” They said “Have you ever heard of us? My name is Ben and this is Jerry.” My husband admitted that he had not but thanked them and walked away with a fantastic ice cream in his hand.

My daughter asked me, the other day, how I would feel successful. I told her that if I was walking in a town I didn’t know and saw a person I didn’t know with one of my t-shirts on, that would make me feel super great about myself and my designs, but I’m realizing now that that’s only a small part of feeling successful in this t-shirt world. At the bank, the other day, one of the sweetest tellers in the world was so excited to tell me that she saw someone in one of my t-shirts walking down the road. It made me feel amazing to know that she cared enough to tell me. Success really isn’t notoriety or fame. It’s all wrapped up in people caring about you enough to make an effort to let you know that you matter. All of you have already made me feel so successful, those of you who I have not met who have liked and followed and commented, my neighbors, my friends, my local support and most importantly, my family. Thank you all for getting to know Cotton Cupcakes. It’s truly a gift and I’m honored. Success tastes so sweet when you share it with friends.❤️
