It’s a slow slow crawl July 20, 2008

So far today I’ve had two coffees, a diet pepsi, diet iced tea and a shot of espresso. Yet at this moment I could really use a nap. This job makes me feel as though my brain is slowly dying. One day, probably soon, I believe I will completely forget how to get home from this building.

I did however use my endless hours at work to create a To Do list for the month of July. SInce there is only 11 days left in this month I thought I would keep short.

July List

1. Bake a pie from scratch

2. Dye my hair red

3. make lemonade

4. Make myself a new bag

5. Have a smores and champagne night

Only about an hour until I get to go home and indulge in bourbon, strawberries and cake. Let the countdown begin…

+ weekends

+ string cheese

+ book stores with wooden floors

So I spray painted my new TV tray and it looks great! I love it. It is incredible how quickly spray paint can transform something. I think I might go back tomorrow and get the other one. You know for guests. Ha. So I have been browsing around the internet as usual and have found so many new things I wish I could get.

I never wear necklaces much but I think its just because I don’t really have many. I love this one though.

I really like this one with the blue glass. So pretty…

I also have been obsessed with this beautiful website. This is my favorite.

I also have had my eye on these adorable Camper shoes. I tried them on the other day. Most comfortable shoes but so pricey. I need a money tree.

Today went by super fast. I’ve been thinking about having a little dinner party sometime soon. I don’t have a kitchen table which proves to be a small problem but I thought perhaps I would serve homemade pizza, smores, and champagne. All foods that can be consumed around while sitting on a floor. Like an indoor picnic. Classy.

Tomorrow my plans are a trip to Target, the used bookstore, and job patrol as usual.

I bought a folding table today. I am going to use it as my cutting table most days and as a show table when needed. I don’t have many shows coming up and would really like to plan more for the future. I really want to go down to Texas in November and sell at Stitch just because it looks like so much fun. I also want to go down to Portland on the train and sell at Crafty Wonderland, maybe in September. I was looking for hotels and found this one right by the show, its called Jupiter. It looks really neat and the price isn’t bad either.

I saw Ryan Adams last night at the Moore Theater , it was an enjoyable show. We went out afterwards to get cocktails, I got a delicious mango mojito. I was lazy today and spent the morning trying to learn some CSS and messing around with my website. I hope to redesign it a bit in the next month.

Today was another day of job searching and such. I just wish I could find something that I might actually enjoy doing on a daily basis.

I made the simplest craft ever today, cloth napkins. I’ve been trying to cut down on using paper towels and have started using rags to clean and cloth napkins. I used some 1950′s fabric that I had around. I also wanted to show off some of my awesome birthday presents including a set of Lotta Jansdotter cards, green candy dish, and cupcake making supplies.

I also spent an hour on the martha stewart website which embarrassing as it is to admit I absolutely love. I especially love the projects aimed at children. I want to make that rice krispie cake and some butter soft pretzels in the near future. I love homemade soft pretzels. Perhaps when I get a job I can buy a bread machine.

This week has gone by so fast. Monday was my birthday and I am now 25. It was a fun day that started with a delivery of a dozen cupcakes from Trophy Cupcakes. My mom sent them to me. I spent the rest of the morning opening presents and reading and went out in the evening with friends. I can’t think of a better way to spend a birthday. Tuesday was the first beautiful day in a while and Katie and I took the ferry over to Bainbridge Island. We went to the fabric shops and out to lunch. We walked around all afternoon and had a great time.

Today wasn’t such a great day because my bathroom flooded with icky brown water. The person who lives above me fell asleep while they were filling their bathtub! Nothing was really damaged so that is good but it was still a mess and my bathroom light is now broken.

Tomorrow I am going to sew all morning and do a little job searching in the afternoon then it is off to an art opening in a bar only a block away. I love when things are in my neighborhood.

It was a dreary day and I really wasn’t motivated to leave my apartment all afternoon. Which wasn’t bad because the new Harry Potter book was delivered this morning and I started to read it right away. It was a wonderful day to curl up on the couch with tea and read the day away. I also spent some time at the sewing table and made this little bag.

Later that night I went out to get dinner with my friend Kim. We ate crepes which were really delicious. Afterwards we went out for cake and coffee at a nearby cafe. It was a nice time because we had a lot of catching up to do since we last got together and nothing beats chocolate raspberry torte.

I woke up super early this morning to go to a job interview. I really hope I can find a job I won’t mind getting up for in the morning. I looked at government jobs but they all sounded terrible. So I guess the job search will continue.

Today wasn’t a terribly exciting day. I wondered around downtown for a while and when I got home I made fajitas topped with tomatoes and a cob of corn for dinner. I also watched Factory Girl which was extremely sad. It is incredible how much Sienna Miller looks like Edie. I really like the name Edith.

Plans for tomorrow:

- laundry

- organize fabric piles

- stir fry

Today I went to the Fremont market which is a mixture of a flea market and handmade stuff with a few fruit and flower vendors. I would really like to sell there in the next month or so. I just need to invest in a canopy because it is located on a blocked off street and is quite sunny. I bought a small bag full of vintage fabrics at one stand. After the market Katie and I went to get sushi for lunch and went to a place called Blue C Sushi. It had sushi that went around on a conveyor belt and you chose from a variety of different kinds. It even had desserts and fruit going around as well. I got some vegetable rolls and spider rolls, which were both really good. I didn’t have my camera but I found this photo of the restaurant from a newspaper article.

After lunch we went to look around at a few antique shops and I saw so many things I wanted. One of which was an old metal toy ostrich that pulls a cart. I know I will regret not buying that when I had the chance. When I got back I watched a few episodes of Lost which has to be the most addicting show ever created. All those darn cliffhangers and unexplained situations! Tomorrow I’m going to get back into the job search and spend the day sewing some new items.

Also there are lots of new items in the shop and much much more to come this week.

my teeth are trying to move around May 28, 2007

This weekend was full of fun things. On Friday I went out with friends to watch a hilarious improv show and eat some food. It was a great show and I had a fun night getting out of the house after a week of working. On Saturday afternoon I went down to the Folklife Festival and watched some bands and ate the best strawberry shortcake ever. I saw this band which had a member who played the washboard. I was going to go back down tonight to watch a line up of rockabilly bands but the weather was cold so I stayed in.

I have been working on about a thousand projects lately trying to prepare and have some new products to show off. I have been making stamps lately which is a lot of fun. I think I may have gotten a little carried away because I’ve been having some pain in my right hand. I think I might take a few days off from carving.

I went to a few thrift shops today and found a great black and white dress that fits perfectly for only $12. I love all the thrift stores here.

your words are inside me tonight May 24, 2007

I really need to stop drinking coffee after a certain hour because I am not the least bit tired and it is close to 3am. Today I made a bunch of new stuff that I’m pretty excited about. I really want to get another work table to use for dying fabric and to use when I start stamping fabric. I think tomorrow I might purchase some fabric ink and a roller.

Today I hung some photos in my hallway and printed some laminated coasters to protect my plastic furniture.  haha

I also bought a great $11 vintage dress. I spent most of my evening watching season 2 of weeds, which is a hilarious show. I embroidered until my fingers were sore. Maybe a bath will make me tired. I leave you with a photo collage of my day. I bought some vintage flag and girl scout patches for $1. Also printed out a calender for the month of may because I really need one. The amount of fabric I own is a bit ridiculous.
